This Council, is the legislative body elected under the law of local government, in Maldives. There are seven members elected as the council by a vote by the people of the island. Apart from the council members who make decisions, civil servants who are appointed to implement the decisions taken by the council members are formed as an organization.
Malé Atoll is the atoll with the most tourist resorts. By the end of 2024, there were 176 tourist resorts operating in Malé Atoll. In addition to resorts, the atoll’s residents also operate 153 guesthouses.
Furthermore, the atoll has 214 shops selling imported goods, 107 tourist shops, and 65 cafés, hotels, and restaurants. For transport, there are 65 dhonis, 18 ferries operating to Malé, 32 cargo vessels, and 1 safari vessel registered.
In terms of education, the atoll has the Kaafu Atoll Education Centre and island schools, making up a total of 16 schools, 3 Quran classes, 23 mosques, and 37 community clubs. Additionally, there are 9 health centres and 9 pharmacies in the atoll. Preschools are attached to schools that provide education up to Grade 10.
One of the biggest land reclamation projects carried out by the government for island protection has been completed in Maafushi. Also, in Guraidhoo, the government has developed a rehabilitation centre for people with special needs.
Within the atoll, K. Thulusdhoo is home to the Coca-Cola factory and a boatyard, along with the Youth Vocational Training Centre. In Himmafushi, there is a cannery factory, boatyard, and a fish factory, as well as a Drug Rehabilitation Centre and a prison. In Gulhi, there is also a boatyard, while in Huraa there is a cannery factory.

The responsibilities of the local councils include preserving the Dhivehi language, culture, and traditions, protecting the environment, maintaining harmony within the island communities, establishing religious facilities in the atoll, upholding Islamic principles, adapting to the changes that arise over time, ensuring the welfare of families, and promoting social solidarity. In addition, councils are tasked with carrying out these responsibilities in coordination with both the state and the atoll, ensuring unity and cooperation across all aspects of governance.

މިކައުންސިލަކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ އިދާރީ ދާއިރާތައް ލާމަރުކަޒީ އުޞޫލުން ހިންގުމުގެ ޤާނޫނުގެ ދަށުން އުފައްދާފައިވާ ޤާނޫނީ ޝަޚުސެކެވެ.
މާލެއަތޮޅަކީ ރާއްޖޭގެ ވެރިކަންކުރާ މާލެއާއި އެންމެ ކައިރީގައިވާ އަތޮޅެވެ. މިއަތޮޅަށް ނަންދެވިފައި ވަނީ މާލެއަށް ނިޞްބަތްކޮށެވެ. ޖިއޮގްރަފީގޮތުން މާލެއަތޮޅު އޮންނަނީ ލެޓިޓިއުޑް 5.01 ޑިގްރީ އަދި 3.74 ޑިގްރީއާއި، ލޮންޖިޓިއުޑް 73.80 ޑިގްރީ އާއި އަދި 73.23 ޑިގްރީ ލޮކޭޝަންގައެވެ. މާލެއަތޮޅުގެ ބޮޑުމިނަކީ 216,000 ހެކްޓަރ އެވެ.
ޖިއޮގްރަފީގޮތުން މާލެއަތޮޅު ތިން ބަޔަކަށް ބެހިފައިވެއެވެ. އެގޮތުން މާލެން ދެކުނުގައި ހިމެނެނީ ގުޅި، މާފުށި، އަދި ގުރައިދޫ އެވެ. މާލެން އުތުރަށް ދެން އޮންނަނީ ތުލުސްދޫ، ހުރާ، ހިންމަފުށި އަދި ދިއްފުއްޓެއެވެ. މާލެއާއި އެންމެ ކައިރީގައިވާ މީހުން ދިރިއުޅޭ ރަށަކީ ހިންމަފުއްޓެއެވެ. ކާށިދޫ، ގާފަރު ހިމެނެނީ އަތޮޅުގެ އެންމެ އުތުރުގައިވާ ދެރަށުގެ ގޮތުގައެވެ. އަދި ކާށިދޫ ހިމެނެނީ ޖިއޮގްރަފީގޮތުން އަތޮޅާއި އެކަހެރިކޮށް އޮންނަ ރަށެއްގެ ގޮތުގައެވެ. މާލެއަތޮޅަށް ދީފައިވާ އިނގިރޭސި އަކުރަކީ އެޗް (H) އަކުރެވެ. މާލެއަތޮޅަށް ކ. އަތޮޅު މިނަންވެސް ބޭނުން ކުރެވެއެވެ. މާލެއަތޮޅުގެ މަރުކަޒީ ރަށަކީ ކ. ތުލުސްދޫ އެވެ. އަތޮޅުގެ ވެރިރަށަކަށް ތުލުސްދޫ ހަމަޖެހިފައިވަނީ 30 ޖުލައި 1984 ގައެވެ.
މާލެއަތޮޅަކީ ޓޫރިސްޓް ރިސޯޓްތައް އެންމެ ގިނަ އަތޮޅުވެ. އެގޮތުން 2023 ވަނަ އަހަރު ނިމުނުއިރު މާލެއަތޮޅުގައި 128 ޓޫރިސްޓް ރިސޯޓް އޮޕްރޭޓް ކުރަމުން ގެންދެއެވެ. ޓޫރިސްޓް ގެސްޓް ހައުސް ތަކަށް ބަލާއިރު މާލެއަތޮޅުގެ މީހުން ދިރިއުޅޭ ނުވަރަށުގައި ޖުމްލަ 153 ގެސްޓް ހައުސް ހިންގަމުން ގެންދެއެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން އަތޮޅުގައި އިމްޕޯޓް މުދާ ވިއްކާ 214 ފިހާރައާއި، ޓޫރިސްޓް ޝޮޕްގެ ގޮތުގައި 97 ތަނާއި، ކެފޭ، ހޮޓާ، ރެސްޓޯރެންޓްގެ ގޮތުގައި 65 ތަން ހުރެއެވެ. އަދި މަހަށްދުއްވާ 65 ދޯންޏާއި، މާލެދަތުރުކުރާ 18 ފެރީއާއި، މުދާ އުފުލާ 32 އުޅަނދާއި، 01 ސަފާރީ އުޅަނދު ހިމެނެއެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން ކ. އަތޮޅު ތަޢުލީމީ މަރުކަޒާއި އަތޮޅު މަދަރުސާގެ ޕްރީސްކޫލާއެކު ޖުމްލަ ސްކޫލް 16، 03 ޤުރުއާން ކްލާސް، 23 މިސްކިތް، 37 ކްލަބު ޖަމްޢިއްޔާ ގެ އިތުރުން 09 ސިއްޙީ މަރުކަޒު އަދި އެސް.ޓީ. އޯ ގެ 9 ފާމަސީ ހުރެއެވެ. ޕްރީސްކޫލްތައް ފިޔަވައި އެހެން ސްކޫލް ތަކުގައި ގްރޭޑް 10 އަށް ކިޔަވައި ދެވެއެވެ. އިތުރުން ކުށްވެރިން ބަންދު ކޮށްފައި ބައިތިއްބުމަށް ސަރުކާރުން ހައްދަވާފައިވާ އެންމެ ބޮޑު ޖަލު ހުންނަނީ މާފުށީގައެވެ. އަދި ގުރައިދޫގައި ދައުލަތުގެ ޚާއްޞަ އެހީއަށް ބޭނުންވާ މީހުންތިބޭ މަރުކަޒު ކުރެވެއެވެ.
މީގެއިތުރުން ތުލުސްދޫގައި ކޮކާކޯލާ ފެކްޓްރީއާއި، ޕްރޮސެސަންމެރިން ބޯޓްޔާޑް ހުރެއެވެ. އަދި ޔޫތް ވޮކޭޝަނަލް ޓްރޭނިންގ ސެންޓަރ ވެސް ހުންނަނީ ތުލުސްދޫގައެވެ. ހިންމަފުށީގައި ކަންނެލި ފެކްޓްރީއަކާއި ބޯޓްޔާޑަކާއި އަދި ފެންފެކްޓްރީއެއް ހުރެއެވެ. އަދި ޑްރަގް ރިހެބިލިޓޭޝަން ސެންޓަރ އާއި އައްސޭރިޖަލްވެސް ހުންނަނީ ހިންމަފުށީގައެވެ. ގުޅީގައިވެސް ބޯޓްޔާޑެއް ހިންގަމުން ގެންދެއެވެ. ހުރާގައިވެސް ކަންކެލި ފެކްޓްރީއެއް ހުރެއެވެ.
